DSS Interrogates NEPC Officials Over Burglary Incident

The Department of State Services (DSS) has begun interrogating several top management officials of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in connection with a burglary incident at the council's finance department. This incident, which reportedly occurred between January 23 and January 25, 2026, raised concerns among staff, especially given the presence of security personnel.

The situation escalated when employees accused the Executive Director of orchestrating the burglary to implicate certain officials, leading to a crisis within the agency. The DSS's involvement followed an ongoing police investigation into the burglary, which was discovered on January 26, 2026.

Staff members expressed shock and anger over the DSS's intervention, questioning the need for their involvement when police were already investigating. Allegations of financial mismanagement and internal power struggles within NEPC have further complicated the situation, with accusations against the Executive Director regarding her leadership style and treatment of staff.

The spokesperson for NEPC confirmed the burglary attempt and stated that the council invited security agencies to assist in the investigation.
