Osun Churches and Mosques Enhance Security Amid DSS Alert

In response to a terror alert from the Department of State Services (DSS), churches and mosques in Osun State have implemented new security measures to protect worshippers. The alert indicated a potential plan to attack worship centers, prompting the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Muslim community to take action after meetings with the DSS in Osogbo last week.

Pastor John Adeleke, the state CAN Chairman, urged churches to enhance their security protocols, including profiling visitors and inspecting vehicles and bags. He also recommended discouraging night vigils and clubbing among members.

Similarly, the Osun Muslim community, represented by Public Relations Officer Hameed Oyegbade, advised mosque leaders to be vigilant and report suspicious activities. They emphasized the need for security presence during Friday prayers and ensuring that vehicles are parked away from mosque buildings.

Both communities are working to ensure the safety of their congregations amid concerns of increased insecurity in the region ahead of the presidential election.
