D’Tigers Of Nigeria Finish Fifth At 2025 AfroBasket

Nigeria's D'Tigers finished fifth at the 2025 AfroBasket tournament held in Angola from August 12-24. The team, led by coach Mohammed Abdulrahman, had a strong start, topping Group B with convincing wins over Madagascar, Tunisia, and Cameroon.

However, their momentum was halted with a defeat to Senegal, who went on to claim the bronze. Despite missing out on a second AfroBasket crown, the Tigers regrouped to secure a fifth-place finish, behind Angola, Mali, Senegal, and Cameroon.

The team's performance marked a step forward from their inconsistent showings in recent years. Attention now shifts to the FIBA Men's World Cup Qualifiers in November, where Nigeria aims to secure a spot in the 2027 edition after missing out on the 2023 tournament.
