D'Tigress Coach Rena Wakama Named Head Coach of Hive BC in U.S. Basketball League

Rena Wakama, the successful coach of D'Tigress, has been named the head coach of Hive BC in the United States for the 2025-2026 basketball league season. The league, co-founded in 2023 by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, is set to expand to eight franchises in its second campaign starting January 2026.

Wakama's appointment was confirmed by the league, recognizing her rapid rise in the coaching career, including leading Nigeria to back-to-back FIBA Women's Afrobasket titles in 2023 and 2025. She has previously worked at Tulane University and Stony Brook University in the U.S.
