The Nigerian women's basketball team, D’Tigress, is focusing on success in the 2026 FIBA World Cup following their recent campaign in Lyon. Under the guidance of head coach Rena Wakama, the team experienced a challenging tournament, finishing with two wins and three close defeats, including an 81-73 loss to Germany at the Villeurbanne Sport Arena.

Despite the record, Wakama commended the players for their resilience and competitive edge throughout the matches. Elizabeth Balogun led the scoring in the final game with 15 points, while Musa Mujarnatu contributed 13 points and six rebounds.

Veteran guard Sarah Ogok made her final appearance, concluding her international career. Wakama noted that the tournament provided valuable insights, emphasizing the need for sharper starts and better decision-making at crucial moments.
