D’Tigress to Tour U.S. for 2026 FIBA World Cup Prep

Nigeria's senior women's basketball team, D’Tigress, is set to undertake an exhibition tour in the United States as part of their preparation for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) announced that the tour will be organized in collaboration with the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

D’Tigress will play three exhibition matches against prominent WNBA teams: the Los Angeles Sparks on April 25, 2026, the Minnesota Lynx on April 27, and the Indiana Fever on May 2 in Indianapolis. NBBF President Musa Kida described the tour as a strong statement of intent, reflecting the federation's commitment to building a team capable of competing at the highest level.

Head Coach Rena Wakama emphasized the importance of facing elite opposition for the team's tactical and physical development. The tour is expected to boost D’Tigress's global profile and strengthen engagement with the Nigerian diaspora, positioning the team as a strong contender for the upcoming World Cup.
