NCDC Confirms Negative Ebola Tests for Two in Adamawa

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) confirmed that laboratory tests have ruled out Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in two suspected cases in Yola, Adamawa State. The individuals, who exhibited symptoms suggestive of the disease, tested negative after two rounds of testing.
Dr Jide Idris, the Director-General of NCDC, announced this in a statement on November 1, 2026. The report regarding the suspected cases was received by the Adamawa State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre on October 30, 2026.
The individuals were isolated, and public health measures were implemented. Dr Idris noted that there are no laboratory-confirmed Ebola cases in Adamawa State, with the only confirmed case in Nigeria being an index case in the Federal Capital Territory.
He urged the public to remain calm and to rely on official communication for updates. NCDC will continue to monitor the situation in collaboration with the Adamawa State Government and other stakeholders.
