Ezza South ADC Candidate Nwonu Joins APC, Backs Tinubu

Ambassador Ephraim Iyke Nwonu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in support of President Bola Tinubu's re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections. Nwonu announced his decision during a speech in Abuja, stating he would withdraw his candidacy, which remains listed on the Independent National Electoral Commission portal.

He emphasized his commitment to support Tinubu and the Ebonyi State Governor, citing a long-standing political connection with Tinubu dating back to 1992. Nwonu highlighted several infrastructure projects initiated under Tinubu's administration, including the Ndibe Beach Bridge and the dualisation of the Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja Expressway, as reasons for his party switch.

He also claimed that Ebonyi State received the largest share of federal appointments under the current administration. Nwonu dismissed any potential challenge from Peter Obi in the South-East, asserting that Tinubu would win comfortably.
