NASS to Reform Nigeria's Budget System for Growth

The National Assembly (NASS) is set to undertake reforms of Nigeria's budget system, as disclosed by Hon. Gboyega Isiaka during a media briefing in Abuja on Monday.

This initiative involves engaging stakeholders in a high-level national policy dialogue scheduled for April 14-15, 2026, in Abuja. The dialogue aims to address long-standing gaps between national development plans and budget implementation, with a critical focus on enhancing Nigeria's economic trajectory.

The goal is to position Nigeria as a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Hon.

Isiaka emphasized that merely having a plan is insufficient; effective execution and adaptation are crucial for progress. Deputy Clement Jimbo highlighted the need for a robust framework to manage potential oil windfalls and optimize economic opportunities, particularly in light of historical challenges faced by Nigeria's development plans.
