ECOWAS Condemns Military Takeover Attempt in Benin Republic

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has strongly criticized the attempted military takeover in Benin Republic. The statement issued in Abuja by ECOWAS condemns the unconstitutional move and emphasizes the need for full respect for Benin's constitution.

ECOWAS expressed concern over the loss of life and property during the incident and pledged support to the government and people of Benin in restoring constitutional order. The regional body also commended the government and republican army for their efforts to bring the situation under control.
