ECOWAS Enhances Regional Statistical Data Harmonization

ECOWAS is undertaking efforts to strengthen the harmonization of regional statistical data as part of its modernization priorities under the PHASAOC project. The first workshop focuses on migration statistics and includes the 6th Regional Coordination Meeting aimed at improving the availability and quality of national data on regional migration indicators.

This meeting will review and validate the third edition of the Regional Report on International Migration in West Africa and promote the dissemination of disaggregated statistics. The second workshop targets capacity building for members of the National Coordination Committees and National Economic Policy Committees to operationalize the Common Regional Frameworks for compiling and publishing macroeconomic statistics.

The workshops are part of ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the ECOWAS Statistical Policy, which recognizes statistics as a regional public good. Key attendees include Mr. Touré Brahima, represented by Mr. Thiékoro Doumbia, and Professor Félix N’Zué, among others.
