Nigerian Guild of Editors Stands Firm Against Press Freedom Threats

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) expressed concerns over threats to press freedom and freedom of expression in Nigeria, reaffirming its commitment to upholding journalistic standards. The guild highlighted challenges faced by journalists, including attempts to suppress media freedom.

NGE emphasized the importance of defending journalists' rights, promoting ethical journalism, and combating misinformation. The statement, issued by President Eze Anaba and Secretary Onuohe Ukeh, coincided with the 2025 World News Day, underscoring the need to protect press freedom and support journalists in providing accurate information to the public.
