Edo Assembly Confirms Otaru as Commissioner Amid Monarch's Petition - Governance Dispute Unfolds

The Edo State House of Assembly confirmed Roland Otaru as a commissioner despite a petition from traditional ruler HRH Luckman Momodu Odamah III opposing his nomination. Governor Monday Okpebholo approved Otaru's nomination along with other nominees.

Otaru had been screened and confirmed by the Assembly, but the process faced a delay due to the petition. HRH Odamah III argued that confirming Otaru could impact a case related to his ascension to the throne after his father's passing in 2011.

Otaru has been acting in the role since then and continues to serve in the government.
