Edo Assembly Confirms Eight Commissioner Nominees

The Edo State House of Assembly has confirmed eight commissioner nominees after they were cleared by the House Committee on Rules, Business, and Governmental Affairs. The nominees include Barr Nosa Adams, Yakubu Oshiorenua, Felix Akhabue, Omorodion Ignatius, Ohimai Ehijimetor, Eugenia Abdallah, Godwin Eshieshi, and Prince Kassim Afegbua.

The confirmation came after Governor's request was processed and the committee presented a report to the House. Speaker Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku highlighted that all nominees are indigenes of Edo State and possess the required competence and experience for the job.

However, concerns were raised about gender imbalance as only one female nominee was confirmed. Despite this, the majority of lawmakers supported the confirmation through a voice vote, allowing the nominees to assume their roles as commissioners in the state cabinet.
