The Edo State Government has taken decisive action against cultism by sealing properties linked to suspected cult leaders and declaring them wanted. This move comes after the discovery of a shrine in the Egbaen community, where a violent confrontation led to a loss of life.

During the operation, a secluded shrine with fetish items used for initiation rituals was found, emphasizing the government's commitment to dismantling the physical and spiritual infrastructure that sustains cultism in the state. Simultaneously, security forces responded to a clash between rival confraternities in the Evboyare community, resulting in one fatality.

The alleged leader of one of the groups has been sealed, declared wanted, and is believed to have orchestrated the violence. Investigations have also revealed evidence of extortion and forced money transfers as part of the initiation process, with the police pursuing prosecution against those involved.
