Edo Reps Member Esosa Iyaw Resigns from APC

Esosa Iyaw, a member of the House of Representatives representing Oredo Federal Constituency in Edo State, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) just four months after joining the party on December 20, 2025. In a resignation letter dated May 6, 2026, addressed to the APC ward chairman of Ward 1 in Oredo, Iyaw expressed his decision to withdraw his interest in contesting the 2027 House of Representatives elections on the APC platform.

He cited irreconcilable differences with Governor Godwin Obaseki as a primary reason for his departure. Iyaw expressed appreciation for the opportunities he had during his membership in the APC but noted that he would be aligning with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) moving forward.

Barrister Peter Uwadia Igbinigi, the APC spokesman in Edo State, responded to Iyaw's claims, asserting that the party remains a united organization despite the defections.
