Edo State Schools Set to Reopen on June 15, 2026

The Edo State Government has announced that schools will reopen on Monday, June 15, 2026, following a temporary closure due to security concerns. The closure affected three schools: Ososo Grammar School, Ososo Comprehensive High School, and Akoko Edo Secondary School.

The decision to reopen was communicated in a circular issued by Enodolomwanyi Otamer, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, after a thorough review of the security situation in collaboration with relevant security agencies. Governor Okpebolo had previously instructed the temporary closure due to alerts regarding potential bandit attacks on schools.

The government has assured parents, guardians, and stakeholders that adequate security measures will be deployed across affected communities and schools to guarantee the safety of learners, teachers, and school personnel.
