FG Advocates Education Investment to Combat Street Children

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, has underscored the critical role of education investment in removing children from the streets and integrating them into society.

During an address at the GYB Model Secondary School in Nagazi, Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi State, he noted that education is a key driver of national development. The government has introduced a self-fund program to ensure that no Nigerian student is deprived of tertiary education due to financial constraints, having disbursed N200 billion in less than two years to benefit students.

Dr. Alausa commended Governor Ahm Usman Ododo for his significant strides in educational security and the tangible impact of his leadership.

He emphasized the need for quality education to produce a skilled workforce and called for the establishment of primary schools to encourage children to return to school. The governor allocated 30 percent of the budget to education, reinforcing the commitment to secure the state and improve educational infrastructure.
