EFCC Arraigns Four Hotel Staff for N95m Fraud in Lagos

On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned four hotel staff in Lagos over an alleged fraud totaling N95 million. The defendants, Adetunji Mathew, Victor Olaomo, Dougla Ikwugwu, and Arowolo Adeniyi Abiodun, were brought before Justice O.

Okunuga at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja. Mathew and Olaomo face five counts of conspiracy to commit felony and theft, specifically involving N91,749,230, which contravenes sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

Mathew is accused of diverting N64,764,830 from the hotel’s account for personal use, while Olaomo is charged with dishonestly converting N26,082,400. Ikwugwu and Abiodun were also arraigned before Justice Olubunmi Abik-Fadip at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja on similar charges, with Ikwugwu allegedly stealing N1,966,000 in June 2025 and Abiodun accused of stealing N1,500,000.

All four defendants pleaded not guilty, and the prosecution requested a trial date while the defendants were remanded in custody pending trial.
