ALSCON Plc Faces Money Laundering Charges in Abuja Court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria, ALSCON Plc, on October 12, 2026, before Justice O. A. Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The company faces six counts of money laundering involving N582.43 million. The charges also name the company’s director, Zavyalov Dmitry, who is described as being at large.
The EFCC alleges that ALSCON, classified as a Designated Non-Financial Business and Profession, and Dmitry failed to report specific transfers from the company’s account to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML) as mandated by the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. The transactions in question occurred between March and July 2024 and included payments to Udatson Nigeria, Urico Global Services, and Christopher Azogu.
ALSCON's Acting Managing Director, Ime Monday Inyang, entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the company. The case has been adjourned until January 27, 2027, for trial commencement.
