EFCC Arrests Man for Naira Abuse at Enugu Party

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Iziga Jude Ikechukwu, a 24-year-old palm kernel dealer, for alleged abuse of Naira notes during a birthday party in Enugu. The arrest occurred after the EFCC received intelligence regarding a viral video that depicted the abuse of Naira notes in a hotel room during the celebration.

Following this intelligence, preliminary investigations were conducted, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Ikechukwu on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at his residence near Timber Market in Enugu, Enugu State. The EFCC reported that a total of N81,700 was allegedly mutilated and recovered during the arrest.

Ikechukwu is expected to be charged in court once the investigation concludes. This incident highlights ongoing enforcement actions against the abuse of Nigerian currency.
