EFCC Arrests 31 in Abuja 'Yahoo Academy' Bust

On Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a sting operation in Abuja, resulting in the arrest of 31 suspects linked to an alleged 'yahoo academy' in Karu, Federal Capital Territory. According to an official statement, the suspects were undergoing training in internet fraud, with the academy's proprietor promising job offers to lure individuals, particularly from Benue State.

The EFCC recovered various items from the suspects, including 18 laptops and mobile phones. Investigations revealed that the academy restricted the movement of its trainees within its premises, and the suspects were reportedly subjected to physical assaults.

The EFCC has stated that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
