EFCC Clarifies Role in Lagos Court Property Dispute and Fraud Probe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has distanced itself from a property dispute between Oak Homes Limited and Anthony Ugbebor over luxury apartments in Victoria Island, Lagos. The EFCC clarified that the matter was a civil dispute and not within its criminal mandate.

The case involves allegations of trespass and fraud, with Ugbebor claiming to have paid N152 million to Oak Homes Limited for two apartments. The EFCC's representative, Emmanuel Adid, testified in court, stating that the EFCC had not received a formal request to recover the funds.

Olukayode Olusanya, the managing director of Oak Homes Limited, was briefly detained but later released on bail. The EFCC emphasized that it had not received any money from Ugbebor and that any refund was made by Oak Homes Limited.

The case has been adjourned until March 23, 2026, for further proceedings.
