EFCC Recovers N80M for Land Scam Victim Ifeanyi Madueke

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented a draft of N80 million to businessman Ifeanyi Innocent Madueke on September 24, 2026. This amount was part of the funds recovered from Austine Muanya Okafor, who allegedly sold Madueke 146 acres of land without delivering the property.
Madueke had purchased the land for N232.8 million in a Delta State community but was unable to take possession. After unsuccessful attempts to obtain a refund from Okafor, Madueke petitioned the EFCC for assistance.
The investigation revealed that he transferred the money to Okafor in three installments. During the handover, DCE Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, the Acting Zonal Director of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, emphasized the commission's commitment to combating fraud.
Madueke expressed gratitude to the EFCC, stating he had nearly lost hope before seeking their help.
