EFCC Recovers N84 Million for Edo Businessman Abraham

The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) returned a draft of N84 million to businessman Ekhahon Abraham in Edo State. The EFCC stated that the funds were recovered from Anita Eborome, who had defrauded Abraham by falsely claiming to sell him a plot of land measuring 115ft by 135ft.
After making the payment, Abraham erected a perimeter fence, which was subsequently demolished by an individual claiming rightful ownership of the land. Following this incident, Abraham sought a refund but faced evasiveness from Eborome, prompting him to petition the EFCC.
The investigation revealed that Eborome had diverted the funds for personal use. Sa’ad Hanafi, the acting Zonal Director and Deputy Commander of the EFCC, emphasized the commission's commitment to professional conduct and preventing fraudsters from benefiting from their crimes.
