Leah Sharibu's Parents Renew Rescue Plea on 8th Anniversary

On February 19, 2026, Leah Sharibu's family marked the eighth anniversary of her abduction by Boko Haram in Dapchi, Yobe State, Nigeria. Leah was taken at the age of 14 along with other schoolgirls from the Government Girls Science and Technical College.

While the other girls were released, Leah remains in captivity reportedly because she refused to renounce her Christian faith. Her parents, Rebecca Sharibu and Dr.

Gloria Samdi Puldu, expressed their anguish and called for urgent action from President Bola Tinubu's administration to locate and rescue Leah. They emphasized the severe hardships Leah has faced, including forced marriage and childbirth.

The Leah Foundation announced plans for a global prayer session themed "Glory, Glory" to advocate for Leah's release and to raise awareness about the plight of women and girls held by terrorist groups. The family continues to live in uncertainty, with reports suggesting Leah is still alive but enduring harsh conditions.
