Ekiti Monarch Advocates for Ogun Festival Recognition

Oba Adelek Bobad, the traditional ruler of Ekiti, has called for global recognition of the Ogun Onir festival, highlighting its significant tourism potential and economic benefits for the community. Speaking during a chat in Ekiti on a Saturday that marked the conclusion of his 20th coronation anniversary, he emphasized that the Ogun grove and the associated drum activities are great tourism assets.

He urged the federal and state governments to give the Ogun Onir festival the attention it deserves, aiming to develop it into a world-standard event that could attract people globally. The monarch expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the festival and stressed the need for investment to enhance its appeal.

He noted that the Ogun Onir festival is historically linked to the Ekiti community and serves as a source of revenue generation. Additionally, he lamented the poor state of roads connecting the community and appealed for government intervention to improve infrastructure.
