Ooni and Traditional Rulers to Celebrate Yoruba Culture

The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, alongside no fewer than 45 prominent traditional rulers, will reenact history at the Ita Ajero cultural festival in Ijero Ekiti. This festival, organized by the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, aims to enhance awareness of Yoruba history and culture.

The event is set to take place on August 21, 2026, and will feature traditional rulers gathering to discuss the challenges and opportunities for advancing Yorubaland. The festival will also serve as a platform for recognizing the contributions of the Ijero Ekiti community to tourism promotion.

Ooni Ogunwusi has previously attended two Ita Ajero festivals, and the upcoming event is expected to further strengthen cultural ties among Yoruba traditional rulers. The Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Wale Ojo, presented a certificate of recognition to the Ijero Ekiti community, highlighting the collaboration with the state government under Governor Biodun Oyebanji's administration.
