Arise Advocates for Direct Primaries in Ekiti North APC

Senator Ayodele Arise, an aspirant for the APC in the Ekiti North senatorial district, has firmly stated his opposition to any form of candidate imposition ahead of the upcoming general elections. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Arise urged party stakeholders to respect the provisions of the Electoral Act, which allows for either direct primaries or consensus arrangements. He expressed concern over speculations regarding a potential consensus move that could sideline legitimate aspirants, including incumbent Senator Cyril Fasuyi. Arise emphasized that any attempt to impose a candidate would not be accepted, advocating for a transparent electoral process. He also cautioned Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji against backing Fasuyi, suggesting it could negatively impact the governor's re-election bid. Furthermore, Arise dismissed claims that former Governor Kayode Fayemi is sponsoring any candidate, asserting that Fayemi has previously refrained from allowing others to run for the Senate. He reiterated his commitment to a direct primary process to ensure fairness and representation.
