Eko DisCo Registers Excel as Lagos Electricity Subsidiary

Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (Eko DisCo) has formally registered Excel Electricity Distribution Company Limited as its wholly-owned subsidiary to manage electricity distribution operations in Lagos State. This registration aligns with regulatory requirements set by the Lagos State Government following the enactment of the Electricity Act 2023, which devolved regulatory oversight powers to the state.

The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) directed operators with activities spanning multiple states to establish separate entities for operations in Lagos. Eko DisCo currently serves customers in Lagos and Ogun States, while Excel Electricity Distribution Limited will operate under LASERC's jurisdiction.

Eko DisCo clarified that it remains incorporated under Nigerian law, with 60% shareholding held by West Power Gas Limited (WPG) and 40% by the Bureau of Public Enterprises.
