El-Rufai Denies 2027 Presidential Ambitions

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has addressed rumors about his possible presidential ambitions for the 2027 elections. In a statement released on April 14, 2026, through his media aide Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai clarified that he does not intend to run for president.

He rejected claims linking him to a presidential bid, stating that he has consistently communicated his political views and positions throughout his public service. El-Rufai emphasized that any statements regarding his political future should come directly from him or his official spokesperson, rather than third parties.

He described the circulating reports as unfounded and not reflective of his current political stance.
