El-Rufai Returns to Court After Mother's Burial Amid Charges

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, appeared in court after the burial of his mother, Hajiya Ummar El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt. His return to court is linked to a bail application concerning charges filed against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

El-Rufai faces 10 counts related to alleged corrupt practices, including money laundering and possession of public property. The case is presided over by Justice Rilwan M.

Aikawa, who has scheduled a hearing for the bail application on March 31, 2026. El-Rufai had previously been released on compassionate grounds following his mother's death, but the legal proceedings continue as he prepares to respond to the allegations against him.
