Peter Obi Urges Nigeria to Emulate India's Election Tech

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, expressed strong criticism regarding Nigeria's electoral process, particularly the inability to electronically transmit election results. He referenced India, the world's largest democracy with nearly one billion registered voters and a 60% voter turnout, as a model for Nigeria to emulate.

Obi pointed out that India successfully conducts elections using technology to transmit results within a day, despite having a population of 1.3 billion and fewer than 20% of polling stations compared to Nigeria. He lamented Nigeria's struggles with conducting free and fair elections, especially when voter turnout is often below 20%.

Obi emphasized the need for Nigerian political leaders to implement policies that prioritize the welfare of the people and to transform the country by putting citizens first. He called for a commitment to delivering credible elections and a better future for Nigerian children.
