Peter Obi Advocates for Electronic Voting in Nigeria

Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, stated that Nigeria has no excuse not to adopt electronic transmission of election results, citing India's successful implementation of this technology. In a statement made on Tuesday, Obi highlighted that India, the world's largest democracy with nearly one billion registered voters and a 60% active participation rate, manages to conduct elections efficiently using technology.

In contrast, Nigeria, with a registered voter base of 93 million, struggles to deliver free and fair elections, often recording voter turnout below 20%. Obi lamented that Nigeria's political leaders fail to implement policies that prioritize the welfare of the people, unlike their Indian counterparts who work tirelessly for a better society.

He called for a transformation in Nigeria's leadership to focus on the people's needs and to ensure credible electoral processes.
