Owa Kingdom Celebrates Obi Efeizomor II's 88th Birthday

The 88th birthday celebration of Obi Efeizomor II, the monarch of Owa Kingdom, will honor distinguished sons and daughters of the kingdom for their contributions across various fields. The celebration, planned by a committee chaired by Chief Nkenchor Okwuokeny, will span a week, starting with a football competition aimed at fostering unity among the eight clans of Owa Kingdom.

The grand final of this competition is scheduled for March 10, 2026, at the University of Delta Owa Alero campus. The main award ceremony will take place on March 12, where selected individuals will receive royal awards and chieftaincy titles.

Cultural displays showcasing the rich heritage of the Owa people will occur on March 13, featuring performances from various cultural groups. The celebration will culminate in a grand praise and thanksgiving service on March 14, expected to attract dignitaries from within and outside Delta State, emphasizing the monarch's 66 years of reign and commitment to peace and progress in the kingdom.
