Dangote Honored for Driving Africa's Industrial Growth

Aliko Dangote, the Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, was inducted as an honorary fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering during a special event led by Prof. Rahamon Bello, the Academy's president.

Bello emphasized that the Academy honors individuals whose efforts significantly shape the industrial and economic landscape of the country. He noted that Dangote's investments have driven large-scale industrial growth in Nigeria and across Africa, particularly in sectors such as cement manufacturing, sugar refining, and oil refining, with the Dangote refinery processing 650,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

Bello highlighted that these contributions have reduced Nigeria's dependence on imports and strengthened local capacity, creating thousands of jobs. The Academy, founded in 1997, aims to advance science, engineering, and technology in Nigeria, providing a platform for expert insights and advice to the government and private organizations.
