Enugu-Onitsha Expressway to be Completed in April, Governor Umahi Announces Progress

Enugu-Onitsha expressway is set to be completed by April, with the federal government intervening to fix the deteriorating road. Governor David Umahi announced the progress, emphasizing the significance of the highway for the neglected South-East region.

The project, spanning 107 kilometers, is being executed by MTN Nigeria as a subcontractor, with a total cost of N202 billion. Umahi disclosed that MTN has already completed work worth N50 billion.

The road construction is divided into four sections, with two sections already reinforced with concrete. Solar streetlights will be installed along the corridor, except in areas already covered by Anambra State.

The project aims to boost economic development and infrastructure in the region.
