Enugu Protesters Demand Removal of Aninri Council Chairman

On Wednesday, residents of Aninri Local Government Area in Enugu State staged a protest against the council chairman, Princ Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, accusing him of gross incompetence, mismanagement, and disloyalty to Governor Peter Mbah. The protest, led by community leaders including Stella Ekweremadu and Godwin Ezebuilo, highlighted the dissatisfaction of hundreds of indigenes regarding Nwanjoku's performance, which they claimed has set the local government area backward.

The protesters presented a position paper to the Enugu State Government House, detailing their reasons for opposing Nwanjoku's retention ahead of the upcoming local government elections. They argued that maintaining Nwanjoku in office would disrupt the rotational leadership structure established in the zone, which has been in place for years.

The protest emphasized the need for equitable representation and condemned the idea of retaining a chairman who has already served a lengthy term, calling for a return to a fair rotation of leadership.
