Enugu Clan Protests Alleged Land Grabbing by Mike Onu

On Thursday, residents of Ume Amigbo Village in Ishi Ozalla, Nkanu West Local Government Area, Enugu State, protested against Mike Onu, accusing him of unlawfully taking over their ancestral land. The protest was led by Dr.

Modest Chekwub Muonek, who stated that Onu entered the land with armed thugs and began construction without valid ownership documents. The villagers carried placards demanding justice and asserting that the land belongs to their family, not to be treated as property for others.

Muonek explained that the family had previously filed a petition against Onu, who claimed to have purchased the land, but investigations revealed that the person who allegedly sold the land denied ever doing so. The family has expressed concerns about intimidation and influence over local authorities, urging the Enugu State government to intervene.

Onu, however, maintained that he followed due process in acquiring the land, asserting that the matter is already in court.
