Man United Nears £60M Deal for Brighton's Baleba

Manchester United is close to finalizing a deal to acquire Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba for an initial offer of £60 million. The club had previously attempted to sign the Cameroon international last summer but was deterred by Brighton's valuation exceeding £100 million.

With Baleba's price significantly reduced, United has resumed negotiations after failing to secure Matheus Fernandes earlier this summer. According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, the current offer remains below Brighton's valuation, but discussions are ongoing.

Manchester United has already strengthened its midfield this summer with the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £48 million and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million in July. Additionally, Mason Mount has shown promise alongside Santos in pre-season matches but is currently dealing with a foot injury sustained against Paris Saint-Germain on August 8 in Gothenburg.
