Xabi Alonso Emerges as Top Candidate for Chelsea Manager

Xabi Alonso, the former Spain midfielder, is reportedly in discussions to become Chelsea's next manager, as confirmed by TalkSport. Chelsea is seeking to appoint a new head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Alonso has already been contacted to discuss the position following the departure of the Real Madrid manager. Alongside Alonso, several other names are being considered for the role, including Fulham's Marco Silva and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola.

The club is also reviewing candidates such as Crystal Palace's manager Oliver Glasner and former Flamengo coach Filip Lu. Chelsea had previously considered Filip Lu's appointment and Liam Rosenior was mentioned in earlier talks regarding potential coaching reshuffles.

The club is expected to continue evaluating its options before making a final decision on the next permanent manager.
