Xabi Alonso Signs Four-Year Deal as Chelsea Head Coach

Xabi Alonso has officially signed a four-year deal to take charge of Chelsea Football Club. The Spaniard, who previously managed Bayer Leverkusen, was reported to have agreed to the contract after Chelsea's FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

The club is in search of a new head coach following the departures of Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior. Alonso, 44, is expected to focus on rebuilding the squad, which currently sits in 9th place in the Premier League and is likely to miss European football next season.

Despite leading Bayer Leverkusen to an unbeaten record and their first Bundesliga title, Alonso's earlier departure from Real Madrid was due to his inability to meet the club's expectations. His tactical approach is anticipated to develop young players, having received acclaim for his work with talents like Florian Wirtz and Arda Güler.
