Estate Surveyors Urge Nigerians to Verify Property Managers

Batur Muhammad, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), addressed the need for Nigerians to verify the credentials of property managers to prevent falling victim to fraudulent practices. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, he highlighted the significance of due diligence, urging the public to confirm whether individuals claiming to be professionals are duly registered.

Muhammad noted that anyone involved in rental activities should possess proper identification, including company names, surnames, emblems, and logos. He stated that the institute collaborates with government agencies to tackle the menace of quackery, which poses serious challenges across the profession.

Muhammad emphasized that while efforts are ongoing to curb quackery, it cannot be completely eradicated. He encouraged the public to utilize verification channels available through the NIESV website.

Furthermore, he warned against engaging unqualified practitioners, stressing that only certified estate surveyors and valuers are legally empowered to undertake valuation assignments in Nigeria.
