Etihad Airways Partners with Ibom Air for Nigerian Routes
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and Nigeria’s Ibom Air have entered into an interline agreement that will link five Nigerian cities—Abuja, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Enugu—to Etihad’s international network through Lagos and Accra, effective March 2027. This agreement allows passengers flying with Etihad Airways to book a single ticket for their entire journey, with checked baggage transferred to their final destination.
The arrangement will also facilitate connections between Accra and Abuja, as well as Accra and Uyo, thereby expanding travel options between Nigeria, Ghana, and Etihad’s global destinations. Etihad Airways is set to commence daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Lagos on March 23, 2027, followed by its Abu Dhabi–Accra service starting on March 24, 2027, with four flights weekly.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, stated that Nigeria holds a central position in the airline’s long-term expansion strategy in Africa.
