EU Invests €820M in Nigeria's Digital Ecosystem Development

The European Union (EU) announced a commitment of €820 million to support Nigeria's digital ecosystem, focusing on the National Innovation Hub Standard Framework (NIHSFI). Ms. Tolba Ikram, the Programme Officer for Green and Digital Economy at the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, made this announcement during a validation workshop in Abuja.

She emphasized that innovation hubs are essential for connecting young engineers with mentorship and resources to transform ideas into businesses. The framework is designed to foster ecosystem development and is part of the broader EU Nigeria Digital Package and Global Gateway Strategy.

The EU plans to initiate certification partnerships with SAP and other EU and Nigerian companies. Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, highlighted the country's clarity in technology deployment for national development, identifying three layers of technology use that are critical for societal growth.
