FG Launches National Innovation Hubs Framework in Lagos

A technical validation workshop for the National Innovation Hubs Standard Framework took place at CcHub in Lagos, attended by over 60 participants, including hub operators, startup founders, and investors. This initiative, led by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, aims to create a unified national approach for assessing and improving innovation hubs in Nigeria.

The Framework evaluates hubs based on governance, infrastructure, program delivery, human capital, networks and partnerships, track record, and sustainability. Gbanaibolulou Burutolu, a facilitator at the workshop, guided participants in identifying and assessing their hubs, introducing three tiers: foundational, established, and leading.

Victoria Fabunmi, National Coordinator of the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation, addressed concerns regarding the Framework's inclusivity and potential licensing implications, emphasizing its role as a living document that will incorporate stakeholder feedback. The next workshop is set for Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
