EU and Edo State Discuss Agricultural Investment Plans

The European Union (EU) and the Edo State Government engaged in discussions to explore investment opportunities in agriculture and livestock development, aiming to enhance cooperation before the Edo International Agricultural and Livestock Investment Summit scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The EU Head of Cooperation, Massimo De Luca, met with a delegation from the Edo State Government, which was led by the Special Adviser on Livestock Development, Hon. Roland Igbadumhe.
Other members included Hon. Emmanuel Sule, the Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture and Food Security, and Dr. Lucky Adebudo, the Director of the Ministry of Livestock Development. Igbadumhe reported that the EU's investment focus on cocoa and dairy production aligns with Edo's agricultural plans, noting the availability of over 10,000 hectares for livestock and plans to allocate more than 20,000 hectares for cocoa cultivation in the next three years.
The EU has committed to collaborating with the state government, and a high-level meeting is planned for Governor Monday Okpebholo to meet with the EU Ambassador.
