Ex-DSS Operative Reveals Cause of Abacha's Death

Denni Amachree, a retired assistant director of the Department of State Services (DSS), has revealed in his newly released memoir that former military head of state Sani Abacha died from a cardiac arrest during sexual intercourse on June 8, 1998. Amachree, who served at the DSS Lagos command, stated that Abacha's death occurred in the early hours at the presidential villa in Abuja.

He dismissed various conspiracy theories regarding Abacha's death, asserting that the cause was natural. According to Amachree, Abacha's girlfriend and her younger sister visited the Aso Rock guest house that night.

Around 4:05 AM, the girlfriend realized Abacha had become unresponsive and called for help. After efforts to locate her, she was interrogated by DSS officials but denied any wrongdoing.

Amachree maintains that her account accurately explains Abacha's death, putting an end to long-standing conspiracy theories, including allegations of poisoning.
