Aliyu Zubairu Appointed Head Coach of Al Ahli Madani

Aliyu Zubairu has been appointed as the new head coach of Sudanese club Al Ahli Madani on a two-year contract, following his departure from Egyptian second division side Telecom SC. Zubairu's exit from Telecom SC was by mutual consent after discussions, where he expressed gratitude for the support received during his time at the club.

The 62-year-old coach had joined Telecom SC in November 2025 and made a significant impact by guiding the team to the semi-finals of the Egyptian FA Cup, earning praise for his tactical discipline and ability to maximize the squad's quality. His departure allows him to pursue new challenges in Sudan, where Al Ahli Madani quickly secured his services after the contract expiration of veteran coach Farouk Jabra.

Zubairu has built a strong reputation across Africa, previously leading El Kanemi Warriors to success in the Nigeria National League and earning recognition as head coach of Nigeria's U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, with notable achievements including winning the WAFU B U-20 Championship and securing a bronze medal at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
