Yakasai Leaves APC, Joins ADC Amid Political Shift

Yakasai, who previously served as the director of media communications for former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He announced his defection via a statement on his Facebook page on Monday, citing consultations with family, friends, and political associates as part of his decision-making process.

Yakasai had previously left the APC in 2022 to join the People's Redemption Party (PRP) to contest for the gubernatorial candidacy in the 2023 elections but later returned to the APC. His latest defection to the ADC is part of a broader trend of political realignment in Nigeria as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

The ADC has recently seen a surge in high-profile defections, including the entry of nine senators from various political parties in mid-March 2026.
